Review 1 for Boys' Iron Knee® Pull-on Ripstop Pants
good price, great idea for the knees, but saggy pockets
DateMay 25, 2014
These pants are dirable, fit well, great idea to have double knees (I wish more pants would have this! so many of them rip at the knees within a few weeks). The only quibble I would have is, the pockets end up sagging because there is no way of closing them. I would either eliminate the cargo pockets (there are already pockets at the side anyway) or put velcro on them to close them.

less room than before

I've been buying iron-knee pants from Lands End from size 8H to now size 14H for my son. I've always loved the pants for their durability and fit. The new design and fabric doesn't hold up like the previous twill. My son has ripped two pairs of these (we have 4-5 pairs - they're the only ones that fit "well") not in the knees which are reinforced, but in the area directly below the zipper. They are not cut as generously in that area as the previous styles. I'll probably continue to buy them but expect them to be "disposable" rather than "durable."

Lands' End is great for husky sizes! That said, the updated look means a lower waist.

I bought both copper and navy blue of these pants in a size 14 husky for my teenage son, who went from regular size to husky in the space of a few years. I like these because of the elastic waist, and even though they have a button and zip fly, they can be pulled on without even bothering to undo them. For older boys, a fully elastic waist might look embarrassing in non-sweat-type pants such as these, so I make sure to pair them with longer tops. These pants also sit a bit lower on the waist than other types of pants, and sometimes this causes his underwear to peek out, which is another good reason to pair them with longer tops (although boys exposing half or more of their underwear is no longer frowned upon nowadays). I buy most of my son's husky sizes at Lands' End, as they fit much more accurately than other stores' husky sizes and they're better quality overall.

FINALLY! Something Fits!

My 7-year old wears an 8 Husky (at Lands End, anyway!) We were at the mall recently and tried on Husky, Relaxed Fit, Loose Fit...you name it. We tried 8's, 10's, elastic waist, adjustable waist...not one single pair of any brand fit! My older son, who also wore Husky sizes at this age, had some Lands End hand-me-downs. Lo and behold; they fit my younger son! But, they had been worn and worn, so are faded and a bit out of style now. We were in dire need of some new casual pants for school. My son weighs 79 lbs and carries his weight in his back side, so it is VERY challenging to find pants that accommodate! So I'm back online today to try to buy more of these fabulous pants that fit him perfectly, and there are only two colors: copper and blue. We already bought the copper, and the blue is sold out! There are no more choices! Please make these in more colors. Also, these pants are VERY well-made. The stitching is impeccable, the waist soft, but the material very durable. The copper is true to how it looks online, sort of a deep, masculine orange.
