The Heritage Trench
Design: We went to the drawing board with a goal to not lose any of the tried-and-true purpose of the classic trench (initially designed to keep British soldiers warm, dry and well-ventilated during battle). The result? Our modernized, lighter style with a trimmer fit that still has all the reliability and smart details of the original. Possibilities: So timeless and quality-crafted, you'll want to wear it year after year in spring showers or on brisk fall days. Material: 100% wrinkle-free cotton. 100% polyester lining. Dry clean only. Imported.

GREAT FOR TALL LADIES
DateJanuary 31, 2013

I've wanted to buy a trench coat for a long time, I'm glad I didn't hesitate after buying a down coat on this site recently. I'm 5' 9" tall, my weight is 150 lbs, have long arms, slim everywhere except my bust, which is 42", The down coat which I sent back, was TALL Large. It was much too big everywhere.
I ordered this trench in Medium, hoping it would fit OK, as I didn't get the choice of the TALL fitting. It just arrived. The quality is better than expected and well made. It's cotton on the outside, with a polyester lining, with a cute little pocket with a velcro closure at the top. I put the 4 spare buttons in, a drivers license or credit cards would also fit easily. The buttons are nice and the buckles on the cuffs and belt too. The belt is very long, but it was like that on the down coat I sent back. I guess the fashion is to tie belts. The pockets are reasonably roomy. I'm have just enough room to button the coat up, the hem comes to the middle of my knees, which I like. The sleeves are surprising, I never usually get sleeves long enough. These sleeves could have been an inch shorter, but I'm so happy they're not too short. Yippee, I'm very glad I ordered this coat. It's not as warm as the down coats, but I've invested in really warm underwear for a trip I may have to make to Scotland!

This is a well made coat however the fabric is too thin and flimsy for a coat and the fit too tight. After checking the garment measurement I ordered an XS (I am 5'5, 125 lbs.) I was told it was 37 in the bust and it was 36. The sleeves were tight in the armhole and abit too long......just not a generous fit all over. If I go to the next size the sleeves will be way long. Also the fabic wrinkles easily and doesn't shake out. Big disappointment.

classic trench coat
DateOctober 12, 2012
I purchased this one after I had done some research about trench coat. This is the classic design, good quality, and inexpensive one I can find. I really love it. It does fits big. I'am 5'6'', and I usually wear S or M. I ordered XS after I read other reviews. It fits me very well.

Perfect Classic Trench!
DateSeptember 13, 2012

After watching Charade with Audrey Hepburn I decided that I needed a trench coat, just in case I needed to throw something on and dash out the door in a hurry. So began my search for the perfect classic, simple trench.
This one is it! It does fit rather large as the other reviewer said, so I ordered down. I am 5'3" and 105 lbs and I ordered the XXS, which fit perfectly with a little room for a sweater come winter.
This coat is gorgeous and classic, which beats all the new trenches with too-trendy color blocking/zippers/ruffles/etc. I see myself wearing it for many years.

Classic style, lovely details

I purchased this coat last season, and after wearing it through spring, summer, fall, and spring again, I can't be happier with it!
This coat fits large. Very large. For your reference, I'm not small - standing about 5'10" - and I usually wear a size 8 / M (and tall whenever I can find it!) shirt because of my shoulders. I purchased a Small. The raglan sleeves are complimentary and leave plenty of room for my shoulders. I like the proportions of the collar to the body of the jacket, the cuff details, and the roomy pockets. The material itself is what you might expect--a cotton twill with a decent hand. The length is a little short on me due to my height; the hemline falls a little bit above my knee; more Tall options would be fantastic. The seams appear solid despite the loose threads I've had to trim away.
I was looking for a classic, light-weight trench for 2 season wear, so I have no plans to wear more than a button-front and light sweater underneath it. If you're planning to layer heavily or wear an aran / nordic type sweater, I'd take that into account when purchasing this coat! The Heritage trench caught my eye because of its classic styling and fun details. (I love the university stripe lining.) Its reality has not disappointed me.
(And you won't believe the compliments I get when I wear it!)
