2 Years running

I ordered this before school started 2 years ago and it's still going strong! My kids are rough on their stuff and this book bag has held up well. I agree with the previous posts that the side mesh pockets rip easily and don't accommodate water bottles very well, but overall, as a book bag, it does the trick. It will start it's 3rd year of service this fall and it's been a great investment. With any luck, my child won't need another until he outgrows it -- when he starts high school! I'll be ordering another soon for our 2nd child who's starting school this fall. Keep 'em comin'!
Two requests of Lands' End though:
1. More color choices! I have 3 kids and we need to keep things color-coded!
2. Make it easier to select a monogrammed PICTURE when ordering. I always have to contact Lands' End directly on this one. Not a huge issues, but when I'm getting all this ordered while the kids are in bed, it's a pain to have the extra steps/talk.

I know Lands End can do better than this

I am a "Lands End-aholic". It pains me to say this backpack just did not hold up. I know rolling backpacks take a beating every day--but there just has to be a design that can hold up to "normal" use for at least one school year. Sadly, this is not it. After three months of use, the side pockets were completely shredded (and we didn't even use them?!?). The handle mechanism is less than ideal, and would occassionally get stuck. The fabric was starting to come apart in that area as well. After four months the front bottom of the pack was also shredded to the point I could see the contents through the fabric. That's when I cried uncle and called Lands End for a replacement. Customer Service was wonderful, and you gotta love the Lands End guarantee. I will definitely keep shopping at Lands End, but will keep looking for the ultimate rolling backpack.

Kids love it; Lands End quality endures!

My kids were wanting wheeled backpacks, although their regular LE backpacks are still in excellent condition after 2 years use. They love wheeling the bags to/from carpool, and I think it helps when the load is a bit more than usual. My son has the green/navy one, with matching lunch box. My daughter's is solid in color, again with matching lunch box. I like the vibrant colors and optional monogramming.
We've had no problem with broken handles, or other issues. I noticed the netting on the side of my daughter's is torn, but it appears it is due to her dragging the backpack at some point, instead of wheeling it. That's not LE problem -- that's between me and my child.....who now understands that dragging the back pack is an absolute NO.
We love LE quality and the opportunity to review your products! Thanks!

Handles broke after 1 month - bottle holder tore after 4 months

I bought 2 of these backpacks for my 2nd grade twins who walk to school everyday. I was looking for a sturdy backpack on wheels with a bottle holder. The long pull handle broke on both of them after about a month. These we were able to fix with new screws and glue.
The bottle holder is too low to hold a 500l bottle securely. Also, they both ripped after 4 months so it could not hold a bottle at all.
I would not recommend this product at all - especially for small children who needs something sturdy.
